Come track me down and mention this post and I’ll have a freebie for you.
The Dallas Comic Con Sci-Fi Expo runs Saturday, February 8th from 11am to 7pm and Sunday Februay 9th from 11am to 5pm. For more info visit the Dallas Comic Con website.
If you visit the blog often you’ll notice that we’ve made a small switch over from the soulcore.net domain to the new and condensed ArtOfWarlick.com. A while ago my good buddy Luan pondered aloud why I had never done an “Art Of War” riff with my brand. I’ve been rolling it around in my head ever since and decided a few weeks ago that it was the direction I wanted to go. I’ve stuck with Soulcore.net out of habit and nostalgia for more than a decade (this site has been live in one form or another since 1998!) but I felt it was time to put away childish aliases and proudly and boldy start using my real name on the artwork I create.
That’s right, we’re going old school and taking it wayback by putting together something I haven’t had in years, a properly curated mailing list. So, sign up below if you’re interested. I’m not 100% sure what I’ll be sending your way but you can bet it’ll be art and design related. And I won’t spam your inbox, promise.
Christmas and the Solstice have come and gone and brought with them my last commission of the year, “Those That Burn”. The final piece was a mounted 16×32 stretched canvas print.
This piece was created for a friend and former co-worker to commemorate his girlfriends first trip to The Playa. She had always dreamt of going, and much like myself, had issues with logistic and anxiety that kept her from attending. It seems he helped her conquer those fears out in the Nevada desert and I’m happy to have played a small part in helping that memory find a permanent home in the physical world.
I recorded pretty much the entire process, including mounting the canvas print, and with a little help from my buddy managed to film her opening her gift as well. Look for that as soon as I can edit it down.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are right around the corner and in the spirit of the season I’m offering 40% off all prints in the BigCartel Shop until the new year. Just use the coupon code “Black2013” at checkout to apply your discount.
So grab them while you can, this is only for current stock and once they’re gone they’re gone. I won’t be printing up any more gicless until the new year.
