If you happen to follow me on Facebook you may have seen a conversation or two about my growing dissatisfaction with creating fan art for conventions and how it would be great to see more artists drop the copyrighted characters from their portfolios and focus instead on original work they control and own. Because of those conversations and the reactions to them I’ve decided to put my money where my mouth is and do just that.
Starting now and going until July I’m having a giant fanart print sale. I’ve collected all my stock, taken a final inventory and put them up for sale in the newly resurrected Big Cartel Store for $25 each, and I won’t be reprinting any of these pieces once the current stock sells out.
As a bonus incentive I’m also offering a massive 20% OFF when you use the coupon code FANART at checkout. Get em’ while they last, it’s first come first serve until stocks run out, and these piece won’t be reprinted or available anywhere else once they’re gone.

As Creative Director I get to do a lot of design work for Idea-loop, a web and app development shop founded by my buddy Chris McCroskey, and recently we had the opportunity to work on a project near and dear to me, the SETI program at UC Berkeley California.
SETI’s goal, if you don’t already know, is to scan the stars for signs of intelligent life by looking for patterns and order among the various frequencies of the universe.

I’ve made another move, this one in the really real world. The house I was renting got put on the market and I had to move on shorter notice than I was expecting, and so I ended up about 10 miles farther North, in a little town called McKinney. A town I just so happened to be born in. It’s on all kinds of “Safest City” & “Best Suburb” lists, and I’m happy to report that the restaurants on the revamped Downtown Square do not disappoint.

I’ve been back to work about two weeks now and finally have a moment to stop, catch my breath and update the site a bit. Speaking of, there are about a dozen new pieces in the Commission gallery with more coming soon. I also had time to play around with some watercolors during the packing process and did a few practice pieces including the Dark Phoenix you can see here.
Oh, and those commissions are now officially open!

I recently had the chance to help one of my clients and good friends develop the concept for their new home office.
It all started with some basic sketches from my buddy Chris.
I took his notes and started sketching the basic layout to give myself an idea of how it would all fit together.
