Staple! and Joanne Foxtrot
Staple! is one of my favorite comic-cons to attend. It’s local (a quick hop to Austin) it’s always packed with awesome indie creators and fan s willing to try new things, and it actualyl focuses on comics, and no the entertainment/vide game ties ins that so many are in the business for these days.
So fellow Space-Gunner Paul Milligan an I decided to do a short for inlucsion in the Staple! program book. It’s based on a rough concept by Jake Ekiss (another studio member) that proposed a series of shorts about the future’s hottest, toughest, space-fighting women. Think 50’s pinups and bomber art meet pulp adventure and futiristic sci-fi. So everything I love basically. Words and inks by me, Paul supplied the awesome pencils.
The pages are unlettered, so be sure and come down to staple! and pick up the program book if you want to get your introduction to our new heroine Joann Foxtrot. They’ll be plenty more of her to come as 2011 rolls along.
Staple! is March 5th and 6th at the Marchesa Hall and Theater in Austin, TX. More Info
